about this site
The pages on this site are written in XHTML 1.0 Transitional. They are generated by an Apache Web server running on the Linux operating system. Server-side processing is programmed in the PHP scripting language, and extensive use is made of the MySQL database system running on a separate, networked computer.
The site is no longer hosted at Freedom to Surf. We had been using Freedom to Surf for most of our Web and email hosting needs for over 6 years and used to have no hesitation in recommending them. However all that changed when they were bought out by Pipex. An email service down for over a week, with a failure to respond to all requests for information was the last straw forced our hand and we moved ourselves and all our customers onto a new 'dedicated' server at Bytemark.
We are committed to delivering all work in conformance to all relevant open standards to ensure that our pages can be accessed by the widest possible range of users. All our pages should validate as correctly formed XHTML (let us know if you disagree!) and we aim to fully satisfy the requirements of the WAI accessibility guidelines for Web sites. If you are experiencing any difficulty using our site, please let us know and we will investigate the issue and endeavour to sort out any problems we find.
